How It Works

A tankless hot water heater works very differently from a storage tank water heater. The system heats hot water as you need it, known as on-demand. The unit is able to do this because it uses a heat exchanger to transfer heat to the cold water. This process takes mere seconds after opening a hot water tap anywhere in your home.

Benefits of a Tankless Unit

There are some very good reasons why tankless hot water heaters have become so popular:

Endless hot water - there's no need to worry about running out of hot water with a tankless system because it heats water as you need it.

Better energy efficiency - there are a couple of ways a tankless unit can provide better energy efficiency for your home: first, you won't lose any energy via standby heat loss because there is no tank; second, the system uses energy only when hot water is called for, not on a cyclical basis, so less energy is used.

Longer lifespan - tankless units have an average lifespan of 20 years versus 10 to 13 years with a tank unit.

Work with an Expert

Tankless units will cost more for initial installation and they are more complicated to install, which is why it's so important to work with a trained expert before choosing tankless unit for your home.
